Course Overview
Auxiliary Nursing and Midwifery (ANM) is the most basic course in the field of nursing. ANM professionals are known as the grass-roots workers in the health organisation pyramid.
Nursing requires communicating with patients and assisting doctors in providing care; therefore, a nurse should be adequately qualified to interact well with both doctors and patients. In addition, good operational and managerial skills and reliable patient record keeping are also essential.
ANM professionals are predominantly involved in maternity care and assisting new mothers during pregnancy. The diploma encompasses a broad variety of subject areas such as microbiology, genetics, anatomy, psychology, sociology, nursing fundamentals, behavioral science, and first aid.

| Educational Criteria | Passed 10+2 from CHSE Odisha / equivalent or through National Institute of Open School (NIOS). ASHA workers with 10+2 are also eligible. |
| Gender Eligibility | Only Female candidates are eligible to apply. |
| Other Rules | Must be medically fit and hold a domicile / permanent resident certificate of Odisha. |
Career Prospects
Successful completion of the diploma makes candidates eligible to be registered as an ANM and designated as a certified Nurse.
